Chris Judd announced his retirement on Tuesday and media and fans alike were quick to find a place where he ranks among the best footballers of his era. I have decided to do a Top 10 list of the best AFL footballers that I have seen. Although I started watching football in 1993, I really started watching the game week-in, week-out in 1999 so I will only include players from that year until today. Due to the criteria, players like Gary Ablett Snr, Jason Dunstall, Greg Williams and Tony Lockett miss out but due to the size of the list, eligible players such as Jonathan Brown, Anthony Koutoufides, Jimmy Bartel, Dane Swan and Matthew Pavlich unfortunately miss out. How can Greece beat Japan?

Greece needs to get a result against Japan in its Group C match at the World Cup. The Greeks looked outclassed in their 3-0 loss against Colombia but they did have some of the possession in the first half. Fernando Santos’ team lacked quality finishing as well as some flair against the Colombians but it should fancy its chances against the Japanese. Japan became more defensive after Keisuke Honda scored the first goal in its game against the Ivory Coast and then the Elephants came back and won 2-1. Greece’s players look more built than Japan’s ones but there are other reasons for anyone to tip the Greeks to win this match. Modern AFL Key Forwards Must Show Maturity Beyond Their Years

There is a dearth of key forwards in the AFL these days and it seems that the current forwards are given too much time to develop. Although the media and the fans have this belief that it takes key position players five years to develop, I consider it to be no more than a fallacy and modern day myth. This is now the time for key forwards of the current era to display maturity beyond their years but this consensus that it takes five years for them to develop as well as a lack of great key forwards means that fans should accept mediocre performances for a while. The reasons for my ire are the wayward kicking of forwards in the AFL and the performances of Brisbane Lions key forwards Eric Hipwood and Josh Schache. In Brisbane's 14-point defeat to the Western Bulldogs in Round 20, Hipwood and Schache recorded some unimpressive statistics.
